The subject of this study is the representation of posts on Twitter promoting abuse and violence against women under the hashtag #12 April. The content, which began to spread on April 12, sparked a massive backlash on Twitter, with too many tweets on the subject in the following few days. The revelations of abuse and violent posts -- although tweets and news stories that later emerged for humour and criticism circulated -- have caused outrage, prompting news organizations to address the issue. The study aims to determine the way the subject is framed in news stories on internet news sites about abuse and violence on Twitter under the hashtag #12 April. Within the scope of the study, 70 news texts and a column on 53 websites were examined through content analysis between 12-15 April 2021. Although it is understood that technical expression (heavily conveying the statements of the General Directorate of Police) is used more in the news, elements of moral panic are also found significantly in the examination of linguistic framing. In addition, it was determined that the news was largely episodic and included social and judicial developments related to the singular event. In the text review, it is understood that the content that deals with the subject from the thematic framework are limited. Although a small number of news stories that make up a metaphorically critical meaning have been detected with the images used (photos of the social movement against violence against women), it has generally been determined that the texts are structured episodically. In the news, screenshots of tweets subject to crime and police logos or descriptions have been used much more extensively. In the images, significant elements of fear, anxiety and panic were detected directly or metaphorically related to the subject. The study expects to contribute to the framing literature, as it is one of the limited numbers of studies focusing on framing problematic behaviours in cyberspace in Turkey

Bu çalışmanın konusu, Twitter’da #12 Nisan etiketi altında kadınlara yönelik istismar ve şiddeti teşvik eden paylaşımların haberlerde temsilinin incelenmesidir. 12 Nisan’da yayılmaya başlayan içerikler, Twitter’da yoğun tepkilere neden olmuş ve takip eden birkaç günde konuyla ilgili çok fazla sayıda tweet atılmıştır. İstismar ve şiddete yönlendiren paylaşımların -daha sonra mizah, eleştiri amacıyla ortaya çıktığı yönünde iddiaların bulunduğu tweet ve haberler dolaşıma girse de- büyük infial uyandırması, haber kuruluşlarının konuya yer vermelerine yol açmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı, Twitter’da #12 Nisan etiketiyle yapılan istismar ve şiddet paylaşımlarıyla ilgili internet haber sitelerinde yer alan haberlerde, konunun çerçevelenme biçimlerinin tespit edilmesidir. Çalışma kapsamında, 12-15 Nisan 2021 tarihleri arasında 53 internet sitesinde belirlenen 70 haber metni ve bir köşe yazısı içerik analizi yoluyla incelenmiştir. Dilsel çerçeveleme yönünden yapılan incelemede, haberlerde teknik anlatımın (yoğun olarak Emniyet Genel Müdürlüğü’nün açıklamalarının aktarılması) daha fazla kullanıldığı anlaşılmakla birlikte ahlaki panik unsurlara da ciddi oranda rastlanmıştır. Bunun yanında, haberlerin çok büyük ölçüde epizodik olarak kurgulandığı ve tekil olayla ilgili toplumsal ve adli gelişmelere yer verildiği belirlenmiştir. Metin incelemesinde, konuyu tematik çerçeveden ele alan içeriklerin sınırlı kaldığı anlaşılmıştır. Kullanılan görseller ile (kadına yönelik şiddet karşıtı toplumsal hareket fotoğrafları) metaforik olarak eleştirel bir anlam oluşturan az sayıda haber tespit edilmiş olmakla birlikte, genellikle bu haberlerde de metinlerin epizodik olarak yapılandırıldığı belirlenmiştir. Haberlerde, suça konu tweetlerin ekran görüntüleri ve emniyete ait logo ya da açıklamalar çok daha yoğun şekilde kullanılmıştır. Görsellerde, önemli oranda konuyla ilgili doğrudan ya da metaforik olarak korku, endişe, panik unsurlar tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmanın, Türkiye’de siber uzayda gerçekleşen sorunlu davranışların haberde çerçevelenmesine odaklanan sınırlı sayıdaki çalışmalardan biri olması nedeniyle, çerçeveleme literatürüne katkı sağlaması beklenmektedir.
