YARDIM ÇIĞLIĞI MI İLGİ ÇEKME İSTEĞİ Mİ: SOSYAL MEDYA RETORİĞİ OLAN VAGUEBOOKİNG’İN NEDENLERİ VE OVERSHARİNGE ETKİSİ
On social media, which is a comfortable platform for socializing, millions of people today openly disclose or post about traumatic or distressing events, situations, and emotions. In this context, the use of social media provides important data about the psychological processes of individuals and mental health variables. One of the many rhetoric that provides visibility of psychological processes is vaguebooking posts on social media. As an attention-grabbing practice, vaguebooking content enables individuals with psychological problems to seek help, support and attention from others. In previous studies, individuals knew that such content on social media expressed a psychological problem, but there was no clear inference about the cause and consequences. This uncertainty reveals the necessity of future research to test such content that mediates mental health with the use of social media with psychological process models. Therefore, this research focuses on psychological variables such as 'social support, attention, anxiety, depression and mental health', which are the basis of vaguebooking-style posts on social media, and tests a model based on 'oversharing' in social media that emerges as a result of this sharing. As a result of this study, which consisted of a sample of 18 different countries in the European continent, it was determined that women and young people tend to show more vagubooking and oversharing on social media. In addition, thanks to vaguebooking content and oversharing on social media, the social support levels of individuals increase and their anxiety and depression levels decrease. Thus, as their mental health improves, it is seen that the vaguebooking and oversharing behaviors of individuals also decrease
