Beyond considered a branch of art, photography has the feature of being used as evidence from the moment it was discovered. In this respect, photography has been one of the tools most used by traditional and social media in the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023. In the current study, the texts written by the people affected by the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş, which is called the disaster of the century, on the ruins, which are the representations of their past lives, are examined in a photographic context by dealing with the concepts of grief and discourse. In this study, in which qualitative research methods are used, a literature review is carried out, which includes many different disciplines on daily life. The theoretical infrastructure on the subject has been established with the fields of Photography, Sociology, Anthropology and Psychology. As a result of the scanning carried out on traditional and social media, photographs with discourse content obtained from the regions where these natural disasters occurred are used. The photographic discourses in the obtained photographs appear as the expression of the emotional state created by the disaster on people. In addition, these photographs, which represent the experienced grief and desperation, undertake the task of raising awareness, directing and activating the society. Accordingly, the photographic expressions obtained from the samples are examined and discussed in a detail way.
